Shut Off Water

If you know where your home’s main water valve is, shut off all water to the affected area. If you cannot stop the flow of water, contact a plumber.

3

Televisions & Appliances

Do not use televisions or other electrical appliances. If the ceiling is wet do not use overhead fans.

4

Re-Locate Family

Water and excess humidity can be harmful to humans and pets. Make sure children, the elderly and anyone with a compromised immune system is moved to another location.

5

Remove Valuables

Furniture and other household items can act as sponges during water emergencies and make the damage even more extensive. Remove everything possible from the affected area.

6

Document Initial Emergency

You’ll want to be able to measure drying progress as you remediate the situation. Start by getting a benchmark of the initial damage and volume of standing water.
